Editors Letter -The Holiday is Where You Take It

This week’s edition of MYLO Mag is inspired by an unforgettable journey to Green Bay—a trip brimming with laughter, passion, and the gentle reminder that gratitude, love, and faith are too powerful to be confined to one day, one place, or one tradition.

While traditions hold a special place in our hearts, this Thanksgiving taught us that the spirit of the season is about who we celebrate with, not where we celebrate. At Lambeau Field, with ten of us cheering on the Packers against the Dolphins, the echoes of laughter and love intertwined with the roar of the game.

It was a time to create new memories, honor those who couldn’t join us, and embrace the idea that Thanksgiving—and the joy it brings—can be carried throughout the year.

As we move into this holiday season, may we all find moments to celebrate with those we cherish most, wherever that may be.

Cheers to love, gratitude, and unforgettable experiences!

Where Do You Want Life to Take You?

Thanksgiving Eve at Prime Quarter Steakhouse. Mary was our server and gave us the perfect experience!

Destination: Green Bay

The approach to Green Bay, Wisconsin, feels familiar yet utterly unique—reminiscent of driving to quiet Nebraska towns like Fremont or Grand Island, or even my first road trip to Winnipeg, Canada. As you near the city, you wonder if there’s really a bustling hub ahead. Then, almost unexpectedly, it appears—calm, welcoming, and alive. The heartbeat of Green Bay pulses down Lombardi Avenue, where the crown jewel of this small city sits with understated majesty: Lambeau Field.

This isn’t just a stadium. It’s a beacon—a temple to the Green Bay Packers and a gathering place for some of the most passionate fans in sports. As we drove down Lombardi Avenue upon our arrival on Thanksgiving eve, we marveled at the beauty and uniqueness of this incredible stadium. Lambeau rises proudly amidst modest homes, many of which have transformed into shrines to the Packers. Yards boast artificial turf, miniature goalposts, outdoor seating and fire pits adorned in green and gold, while others remain quiet and unchanged, like relics of the town’s storied past. Nearby, bars are alive with music and laughter, hosting a sea of fans whose dedication defies the icy cold. Here, cold isn’t a hindrance—it’s a badge of honor, a test of grit. This year, 2024, would mark only the second time in Green Bay history that the Packers would play at Lambeau field on Thanksgiving. And we were going to be fortunate enough to be there.

Green Bay wasn’t just a trip; it was a blockbuster of laughs, trivia triumphs, and long-drive confessions we’ll never live down—because sometimes the road to an unforgettable experience is paved with movie quotes, wrong answers, and a whole lot of love for the journey (and each other).

Say, Cheese!

While we fueled ourselves with a warm breakfast at our Airbnb  on Thanksgiving morning, we set out to find some activity to kick-start our day. This town seemed a bit sleepy at first as we meandered about to find some bars that could accommodate our energy and feed our souls for the game. As we bundled up our bodies to prepare for the day, it was impossible not to be swept up in the energy. This wasn’t just a game; it was a cultural experience. Fans clad in striped overalls (some preferring the bravely shirtless option) massive fur hats, and retro jerseys mingled with those sporting modern designs—each outfit a tribute to the team they adore. And the CHEESEHEADS! You can’t escape them—they’re everywhere, just like the cheese curds gracing every menu in town. With a football in hand to toss around while tailgating, a 30 pack of cold Busch Lattes and the anticipation of all that was to come made us eager for the day to progress. It’s an easy-going crowd, that’s comfortable and safe and rowdy. It felt like there were no rules and there were none needed. This culture is built on trust and loyalty. I’m not sure they even really checked the fact that Trevor scanned all six tickets he had on his phone at our entrance. They just passed us on through with a smile.

I’ve been a Packers fan for years, but being here was something entirely different. It was even better than my first visit back in 2017. It felt more connected and personal, like belonging to a family. The Packers Family. Maybe it’s because this is the NFL’s only publicly owned team—a testament to the loyalty and pride of its fans. Whether you’re a die-hard Packers supporter or a fan of another team, a trip to Lambeau Field should be on everyone’s bucket list.

Walking into the stadium that Thanksgiving night, surrounded by my family, the atmosphere was electric. At 27 degrees, you’d expect bitter cold, but it felt perfect. Occasional snowflakes drifted through the lights, casting a magical glow over the crowd. Our seats flanked the end zone, where we were surrounded by lifelong season ticket holders who knew every chant, every cheer, every moment to stand or clap.

The team was founded in 1919 by Curly Lambeau, who convinced his employer, Indian Packing, a meat packing company, to sponsor the team. Packers fans are known as "Cheeseheads" after the large amount of cheese produced in Wisconsin. Some famous fans include Harry Styles, Simone Biles, and Lil Wayne.

Thanksgiving on Lombardi Ave.

The game itself was thrilling—a 30-17 Packers victory over the Dolphins. But it wasn’t just about the score. It was about the camaraderie, the shared excitement, and the simple joy of being there. From the divine hot cocoa served in a souvenir cup to the reminder to eat your pretzel quickly (lest it turn rock hard in the cold), every detail of the evening felt memorable.

What struck me the most during this trip was how deeply the Packers brand permeates everything. Fan gear isn’t just clothing or accessories—it’s a culture, a badge of identity, and a way to celebrate the team you love. As someone in the promotional products industry, I couldn’t help but see the parallels. Walking into the Packers Pro Shop was like stepping into a showcase of everything our business strives to do: creating tangible connections between people and their passions.

From jerseys and hats to mugs, scarves, and even holiday ornaments, the Packers merchandise was everywhere—and it was irresistible. Even those of us who didn’t “need” more gear left with something because the experience was so engaging. Every item told a story, celebrated a legacy, or offered a way to feel more connected to the team. For us, it was a reminder of the power of promotional marketing and how it blurs the line between business and personal passion.

The industry we’re in isn’t just about selling products; it’s about creating moments and memories. Seeing the joy and pride fans took in their gear during our personal trip to support the Packers reinforced why we do what we do. And it wasn’t just in the stadium—the bars, the parking lots, the homes along Lombardi Avenue—it was all an extension of this vibrant, branded culture.

The seats offered the perfect view - after all - we were in Lambeau, there isn’t a bad seat in the house.

Green & Gold

Lambeau Field isn’t just a stadium; it’s a living museum. Every corner whispers stories of legends who’ve played there and the fans who’ve cheered them on. You feel the history, the connection, and the gratitude for being part of it all—even for a single night.

Our trip wasn’t just about the game; it was about the people. Sharing this experience with my husband, Tim, my daughter Cola and her husband Colby, my son Trevor and his friend Logan, my niece Jackie and her fiancé Brett, and my niece Sammie and hubby Jake, made it unforgettable. From the cozy Packer-themed Airbnb to meals at local joints like Prime Quarter Steak House, every moment was steeped in laughter, love, and togetherness. We held a ping pong tournament (Jackie was champ) played card games, recited and repeated ridiculous movie lines, listened to great tunes, imbibed on brews and cocktails and everyone tolerated my endless trivia questions. We made Thanksgiving in Wisconsin one to remember for a lifetime.

Even Nebraska football’s loss to Iowa couldn’t dampen the spirit of the weekend. Instead, the cardinal flying about out the window, the scampering squirrel in the backyard and the hawks soaring overhead reminded me of loved ones no longer with us—my sister Cherie, always watching over us, and Randy, Jackie and Sammie’s dad, whose love and guidance were felt in quiet, beautiful ways.

Family Traditions

This Thanksgiving wasn’t traditional, but it might have started a new tradition. The idea sparked interest in travels and experiences yet to come. It reminded me that holidays aren’t bound by dates or locations—they’re about the people we share them with. The love and joy we carry shouldn’t be confined to one day; it should flow through every season, as constant and enduring as the cheers on Lombardi Avenue.

For those who’ve never been, put Green Bay on your list. The drive, the cold, the camaraderie—it’s all worth it. Once you hit that eastern Iowa border and cross the Mississippi into Wisconsin, you’ll see beauty you never expected. And as you approach the state’s oldest city, Green Bay, and Lambeau sparkles beautifully in your direction, you won’t just want to watch a Packers game; you’ll find yourself immersed in a story that feels like home. And on that note, definitely look into an Airbnb in near the stadium - you’ll have “NO RAGRETS” - not even one letter:)

Much love and gratitude to all the readers out there and, oh yeah…. GO PACK GO!!!!
